The Estepona City Council informs that the 'great poet of the Carnival of Cádiz', Antonio Martínez Ares, will arrive at the Felipe VI Auditorium next Friday, May 10, at 10:00 p.m., with one of his best works, the troupe 'The Black Sheep' ', winner of first prize in its modality in the Official Competition of Carnival Groups, COAC, 2024.

Antonio Martínez Ares is the last great active author of the Cádiz carnivals and this year he celebrates the 40th anniversary of ''Requiebro'', his first troupe as author and component. 'The Black Sheep' places him in the select group of authors who have won three consecutive awards (Paco Alba, Pedro Romero and Antonio Martín). It defends with authority the leadership of its creator, whose literary and musical quality has been overwhelming in the latest editions of the contest, as also demonstrated by the first prize obtained in the last edition with ''The invisible city'', a repertoire with which he closed the trilogy of troupes that was born with ''La chusma selecta'' (2020) and continued with ''Los sumisos'' (2022).

With 27 groups in its career, after a 12-year break between ''Calle de la mar'' and ''Los cobardes'', the ''Niño de Santa María'' has reached the final 22 times and obtained the highest award of the contest ten times: ''Les Misérables'' (1993), ''La Ventolera'' (1994), ''The Trinchera'' (1996), ''The Pirates'' (1998), ''The Girl of my eyes'' (2001), ''The cowards'' (2016), ''The carnívales'' (2019), ''The submissives'' (2022), ''The invisible city'' (2023), and ''The black sheep'' (2024).
