Symphonic piece "peter and the wolf" with maria iciar serrano

Pianist María Icíar Serrano returns to the Padre Manuel Cultural Center with the symphonic work 'Peter and the Wolf' by composer Prokofiev, in the form of a musical story dedicated to children.

Friday 29th, at 7:00 pm, with free admission until full capacity

Estepona City Council announces that prestigious pianist María Icíar Serrano will perform the symphonic work 'Peter and the Wolf' (Op. 67) by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953) next Friday, August 29th, at 7:00 p.m., at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, in the form of a musical story dedicated to children.

The composition was written in 1936, and the composer adapted the music to the text, including a narrator in addition to the orchestra. In fact, he wrote it for all audiences: children and adults alike, so that everyone could attend the concert together.

It consists of a succession of technically challenging, brilliant, and expressive pieces. Each piece belongs to the genre of program music, which aims to evoke extramusical ideas or images in the listener's mind, musically representing highly recognizable scenes, feelings, and characters, who are gradually introduced to the audience as they follow the narrative.

Written with bold harmony, “the pieces are full of descriptive details that imbue the scores with grace and charm, delighting the audience's ears, like a nod to our musical perception,” says the pianist.
