Estepona City Council announces that the García Fajer Foundation will present the Parallel Quartet string quartet on Sunday, August 31st, at 9:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Reloj. The quartet consists of Alfredo Ancillo, violin; Laura Hidalgo, violin; Fátima Poblete, viola; and Stamen Nikolov, cello.
The prestigious Parallel Quartet string quartet invites us to relive the emotions of cinema through a carefully curated selection of soundtracks. Melodies that have accompanied unforgettable stories on the big screen are transformed into an intimate, elegant, and immersive experience, a tribute to film music delivered through the warmth and expressiveness of string instruments.
Parallel Quartet is a string quartet founded in 2023 in Madrid. Through this ensemble, its members seek to create disruptive musical proposals that connect with current events, with a special focus on avant-garde and newly created music.
They have been invited to festivals such as Interlaken Classics 2025 (Switzerland), Clásicos en Verano (Summer Classics) in the Community of Madrid, playing at its launch, and Sulayr Clásica (Granada), where they shared the stage with Bernard Gregor-Smith, cellist of the legendary Lindsay Quartet. They have also performed in venues such as the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, the BBVA Auditorium, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Museum of Royal Collections, the German Embassy, and the Carlos Foundation in Antwerp.
Composers such as Wim Zwaag, such as his quartets No. 1 and No. 2, and Luis Fonseca with Dychotomies have dedicated works to them.
Its members have trained at some of the leading musical institutions in the country and Europe, such as the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig, the Reina Sofía School of Music, and the Katarina Gurska Higher School. There, they have been able to develop their skills alongside members of several leading chamber music groups, including the Alban Berg Quartett, the Hagen Quartett, the Quiroga Quartet, and the Kopelman Quartet.
They have been selected by the National Heritage to perform as part of the Stradivarius series at the Royal Palace in Madrid during the 2025/26 season. The Parallel Quartet receives support from the Goethe Foundation.
